School-Based Tuition Assistance

Nearly every Fort Worth-area private school has its own aid, sibling pricing, church-member rates or employee discounts, and these can be combined with TEFA.

The Comptroller's tuition guidelines say a participating school must charge a TEFA family the same tuition as anyone else and keep giving its general discounts, such as sibling, staff and parishioner rates. A school may consider the TEFA award when it calculates need-based aid.

Nolan Catholic's head of school told NBC 5 in 2025 that about 40% of its students received financial aid. Large Christian schools in Tarrant County also run their own aid budgets, and smaller church academies often price elementary grades near the TEFA amount.

Before you commit, ask three things. Is the school in the TEFA finder now? Which fees can be billed to the account? How does the school's own aid change once TEFA is counted?

Combining it with other sources

Families rarely rely on one source alone. This one generally stacks with a school's own discounts and aid and with at least one other source on this site, and the funding check lays out the order that works for your child.
