Diocese of Fort Worth: Tuition Assistance Fund & Camino

The Diocese of Fort Worth's Catholic Schools Office runs Camino to help families apply for TEFA, and its Tuition Assistance Fund, supported by the diocesan Advancement Foundation, has backed need-based aid at diocesan schools since 2006.

The Diocese of Fort Worth operates 17 Catholic schools across its 28 North Texas counties: 14 serving pre-K through grade 8 and three high schools. Thirteen are in Tarrant County, including Nolan Catholic and Cassata in Fort Worth, and all 13 were in the state TEFA finder when we checked in October 2026.

Camino is the diocese's TEFA effort. Bishop Michael Olson named Oscar Ortiz to lead it in June 2025, and North Texas Catholic reported that by early October 2025 about 1,300 families, representing more than 3,000 current and prospective students, had subscribed to Camino alerts. The Catholic Schools Office held information sessions at all 17 schools and is now surveying families planning to apply for 2027-28.

Aid is still part of the picture. The diocese says every one of its schools offers tuition assistance, that roughly half of its students receive some form of scholarship, and that families apply through each school. The Tuition Assistance Fund, supported by the diocesan Advancement Foundation, was created in 2006 to increase aid for families with demonstrated need.

The diocese hasn't published how it will weigh a TEFA award against school aid. Ask the school directly, and keep in mind that the state's tuition guidelines require parish and sibling discounts to keep applying for TEFA families. The Catholic Schools Office is at 800 West Loop 820 South in Fort Worth, (817) 560-3300.

Combining it with other sources

Families rarely rely on one source alone. This one generally stacks with a school's own discounts and aid and with at least one other source on this site, and the funding check lays out the order that works for your child.
